Application

To apply to l'Effervescence, we ask you:

1) To fill the following form: https://forms.gle/kBJFueQ5uR1zAsQ48 . You will notably be asked some informations about yourself, as well as your motivation to participate in l'Effervescence.

2) To send us an e-mail at  effervescence22@sciencesconf.org, with "[Effervescence 2022] Firstname Lastname" as object, containing a presentation of the problem you would like to solve.

The deadline for applications is June 26, 2022. 

Your problem should be expressed as a research question. It should be inspired by a scientific paper, of which you may not be a co-author. Ideally, the question should be formulated in a way which is understandable by the other participants, but specific enough to enable concrete advances. Of course, you are not supposed to have already answered the question, but it should be at some stage of clarity, so that you have an idea of how to proceed forward. To give you an idea of what the application may look like, you can look at the following example:

You may use this template: template_application.tex to write the project if you wish, but any other format is accepted; we simply require you to make it no longer than one page.

We expect to receive mostly problems related to quantum optics, information, and foundations; however, questions from other domains are also welcomed. The application of mathematicians, computer scientists, or biologists who share a strong interest in physics is also encouraged.

In case your application is successful, you will be asked to prepare:

• a 15-min talk to present yourself and motivate your problem to the other participants
• a 1h-1h30 mini-lecture that expands your talk with more background and details, addressed to a reduced audience
  

There are around twelves places for participants, in addition to the organizers. If more applications are received, the selection of participants will be made by the organizers. The choice will be based upon the answers to the application form and the content of the scientific project. In any case, your application will receive an answer about one week after the application deadline. The fees for the conference are set to 350 euros, you will be asked to pay them after your application has been accepted.
